GO GREEN by AKIN FAMINU

If you asked a menswear enthusiast a couple of years back, or any fashion enthusiast really, to make a list of the most underused colors in menswear, green would definitely be one of them! But now, it appears there has been some sort of revelation, the angel of menswear has finally favored green! From military inspired menswear to bold olive green suits, green sure has it going.
So how then do you wear green and make it look perfect this season?
Think olive green!
It’s true that there are many other variants of green like avocado and hunter’s green, but maybe not here in Nigeria. It’s the fall season as well, and olive is the shade of green that’s perfect for fall.

Menswear may be moving in roomier directions, but leave baggy greens in the barracks. While there is still a strong army fatigue trend, it was also seen as part of slimmer silhouette.

If your tailoring rotation is looking kind of blue, green is the subtlest way to jazz things up. Olive green is a great alternative to the ubiquitous navys and greys.

Because the tone is lesser-spotted, and a touch less formal, you can afford to break some other rules, too. Try with a Cuban collar or grand-dad collar shirt for something that oozes relaxed seasonal style. That’s two trends ticked off without breaking a sweat.
An additional benefit of this tone of green is that it works with every skin tone, provided you take the time to find the shade that complements your complexion the best.

Burberry Prorsum took the shade in a typically suave direction, with figure-hugging suits just green enough to stand apart from your colleagues. Channel the aesthetic with a perfectly tailored three – piece in a warm-weather material like linen or cotton, grounding the look with a plain black shirt and burgundy suede shoes to spice things up.

Till next time guys, step out in style. Always! Going green is not a bad idea at all.
