ENUGU FOODIE WAKA - WHY WE ALWAYS RETURN FROM ENUGU IN FATNESS

Enugu state is located right after Benue state if you are journeying through the northern axis; it has a lot of things in common with Benue state in terms of culture and soil type -  this is no wonder why it can be referred to as by the food basket of the East.

Back to my story,  my friend Dear had complained of adding a lot of pounds after visiting home for Christmas and I had wondered why.  Fast forward to me now in Enugu and every one is praising my trim self until I encountered these food through my foodie Waka.  If you stay or visit Enugu,  you must try all these food unless you want to be considered a low life.

That city is just enjoyment raised to the power hundred if you really have what it takes to enjoy it.  Oya follow my foodie Waka here joor.

OKPA

My dear,  this food says welcome to Enugu to every soul in 042. You better not miss this.
It is highly nutritional and it is hundred percent naturally sourced. Every household in Enugu breaths okpa. Breakfast had never really been unified except in Enugu.  It is perfect to dilute with Coke but my village people were accused of using tea instead. Lol.

ABACHA

The good thing about Apache delicacy is that it can be eaten raw with groundnut, coconut, kernel seed or even solo after washing it's excessive starch out.  Then if you want the advance method, visiting an Apache joint will be advisable and you can choose from the many varieties of preparation -  don't forget the Liver, Kpomo, smoked/fried/dried fish combination.

UKWA

This is only for the rich (I know I am rich) lol. It has a great taste and must be properly prepared in the white or jellof form.  The good thing about Ukwa is that it can be roasted and eaten with Kernel seed or coconut; Igbo food are wonderful especially Ukwa.

With fish

Roasted with kernel (popular demand)

With Yam and Veggie

Oya now

The white Ukwa with its water sauce

Jolley Ukwa made with a sweet fresh corn

BEANS

I just had to include beans because virtually all the yam roasting vendors have a spot for beans according to my research. That's not all, Igbo men kinda like heavy food hence the inclusion of beans to satisfy the tummy. It is mostly mixed with r I asked yam,  plantain and vegetables to serve.

See levels

CORN AND VEGGIES

Enugu is good when it comes to vegetable, fruits and freshly cultivated farm produce, hence the large availability of corn and Ube in the streets and everywhere.

ROASTED THINGS

You can't leave Enugu without experiencing roasted things for real.

PEPPER STEW

The first time I had this stew,  I was wondering so deeply as to how people kept complaining on the rise in the price of tomatoes, if you try this source, you will never take that boring tomatoes stew anymore and to worsen this, I just ate this stew in the Yorubas version where Dawada was used instead of Maggi.  Forgive me; food Don carry my head.

PALMS OIL RICE

Every village, household in Enugu knows the value of this rice. Try using a smoked/roasted fish or stock fish for the and you will never remain the same.

OFE AKU/BANGA STEW

I can't explain this until you taste it. I just love it, remain to add beans to your rice at times.  Good afternoon fellas.

PEPPER SOUP

The weather in Enugu accept this, every bar should have it but don't make it boring if you take the ordinary Pepper soup; add yam and plantain once in a while.

AYARAYA NSUKKA

I could remember that I get satisfied eating Ayaraya yam with just #70naira only. I couldn't find the picture but then this is the corn Ayaraya that you may also be craving for.

AKPU

Igbos people consume 90% of the whole cassava planted in Nigeria. Why? Do they know the amount of calories one pound of akpu contains?. Cassava is one food God used to bless poor Africa because it grows from planting the stem alone unlike yams, cocoyam, potatoes etc but the way igbo men consume it, there is still scarcity of cassava to go round in Nigeria. Why igbo women dey fear to choppam still beats me.  Especially igbos from Enugu state,  so you see again ability?

my brother, one ball of fufu is equal to four balls of amala.

So how do you think I could survive with these meal and not get fat? Be warned, Enugu is highly nutritional and can give you fat if you don't watch it.  Now am trying to trim down but long throat will not let me be.

Please if the e is a particular delicacy that I have missed,  let me know in the comment section.  Have a lovely day.
