POEM

                         

    Question

    What if

    The shadow comes falling

    And shatters the move

    And the waves cry a while

    For the dead man's soul

    What if

    He descends for this only journey

    And sees it almost existing

    While the weather made it whither

    What if

     He holds the little banner

     Wishing it had a liquor

     To change his fears

     For all the stains soon showed

     And all the gains left ha!

     To show the debris of dreams

  

     What if

     The dream dies?

     And leaves a wandering 

     Soul shattered

     And all men helpless

     For this chest that

     Gave breath suck

   

     What if 

     I told you

     That this only

     Was mere thought that,

     We always should reflect on
